In a heartwarming gesture, the Hwidieman Association, USA, has donated lifesaving incubators to St. Elizabeth Hospital at Hwidiem in the Asutifi South Constituency of Ahafo region, a generous contribution aims to improve healthcare outcomes for newborn babies.

The Otumfuo Twafohene, Nana Baffour Opoku Agyemang, who represented the association to donate the items, said that the hospital has been serving the region for decades, and as natives, upon hearing the challenges faced by the facility in terms of incubators, they need to act to save lives of newborn babies.

He continues that, with these incubators, it will help regulate body temperature, humidity, and oxygen levels for premature or critically ill newborns and enhanced neonatal care and reduced mortality rates.

Nana Baffour Opoku Agyemang emphasised that the hospital has been delivering, but with the addition of these new equipment, it will improve quality of life for newborns and strengthened healthcare infrastructure at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

“We are committed to giving back to our community and ensuring every newborn receives the best possible start in life.” Nana Baffour Opoku Agyemang, Otumfuo Twafohene stressed.

The Administrator of St. Elizabeth Hospital, Sister Georgina Lawrencia Quayson, and authorities expressed gratitude for the donation as it will help reduce the stress the facility always goes through in saving the lives of newborn babies.

Adding that this has been a challenge, the hospital was facing, as the facility only had one incubator, but with these additional ones, it will improve the quality of their work. Urging others to also support the hospital as there are other machines the facility is in need of to boost healthcare delivery.
