G/A Ghana Football Icons Ali Jarah and Peter Lamptey Honored With Lifeline Support from Ghana Retired Footballers Welfare Association

Christmas came early for legendary retired Ghanaian footballers, Ali Jarah and Peter Lamptey following a cash donation to them by the Ghana Retired Footballers Welfare Association as part of their social mandate.

In an effort to recognize the dedication and contributions of Ghana’s retired national football heroes, the Ghana Retired Footballers Welfare Association (GRFWA) presented financial and material support to former U-17 and Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Ali Jarah and former Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics striker Peter Lamptey. The event, held on Wednesday, saw each veteran receiving a cash donation of GHC 10,000 and groceries worth GHC 5,000.

At Ali Jarah’s Dansoman residence, Jarah expressed his gratitude to the association and acknowledged the support from Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He also urged the Ghana Football Association and other organizations to back initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of retired footballers.

Following Jarah’s visit, the GRFWA team moved to the home of Peter Lamptey, who will celebrate his 80th birthday in November. Lamptey, the top scorer of the 1973 Ghana League, also received the financial and material support. His son, Odartey Lamptey, expressed his appreciation on behalf of his father.

GRFWA Founder Mohamed Elias highlighted the association’s commitment to supporting former players and acknowledged the backing of NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in fulfilling this mission. Former national team players present at the event voiced their support for GRFWA’s efforts.
