W/R Former CPP Gen. Sec. Criticizes NPP’s Lack of Support for Women, Praises NDC’s Women-Centric Policies

The former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nana Yaa Jantuah, has expressed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lacks strong, supportive policies for women compared to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

She noted that the NDC’s policies are in line with the vision of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who championed women in leadership by appointing the first woman to enter parliament during his tenure. Jantuah pointed to initiatives like the proposed 24-hour economy and the women’s development bank as clear indicators of the NDC’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of Ghanaian women.

Nana Yaa Jantuah made these remarks during a workshop organized by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Takoradi Constituency, aimed at educating women on the 24-hour economy and the women’s development bank initiatives proposed by the NDC. In an interview, she remarked that “the NPP does not show the same level of care for women as the NDC.”

The NDC’s Deputy Western Regional Women’s Organizer, Hajia Sadiqa Mohammed, echoed this sentiment, adding that women bear the brunt of the economic hardships under the current NPP administration. She stressed the importance of educating women about policies that could alleviate these burdens, particularly those outlined by the NDC.

Additionally, the NDC’s Western Regional Chairman, Nana Toku, underscored the importance of engaging women in policy discussions, noting their significant influence in society.
