A/R Cocoa Farmers Threatens To Shoot And Kill Any Sand Winner Who Step Foot At Prabon

Prabon and Yaw Mosi cocoa farmers in the Afigya kwabere North of the Ashanti Region are crying out for help as their livelihoods hang in the balance. The farmers claim that some local chiefs have sold their cocoa lands to sand miners, putting their farms and community at risk of destruction.

According to the farmers, who spoke to Sompa FM’s Bawah Baidoo, the sale of their lands was done without their consent or knowledge. “We were not informed about the sale of our lands,” said one farmer. “We only found out when the sand miners started arriving with their equipment.”

The farmers expressed concern about the devastating impact sand mining would have on their community. “Cocoa farming is our only source of income,” said another farmer. “If our farms are destroyed, we will lose everything.”

The farmers have vowed to resist any attempts by sand winners to destroy their cocoa farms. “We will not allow anyone to destroy our livelihoods,” they said. “We appeal to His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to intervene and protect our farms.”

Sompa FM’s investigation revealed that vast tracts of cocoa lands are at risk of destruction. The community’s fate hangs in the balance, and the farmers’ plea to the Asantehene has become a beacon of hope.

The Asantehene’s intervention is crucial in resolving this crisis. The farmers and community members urge prompt action to.

Meanwhile the committee chairman of the area Mr Kadri Chipsa also disclosed that, some local chiefs even stated that Otumfour Osei Tutu ll has endorse the sand winning.

Mr Kadri Chipsa stated emphatically that, they will not watch for their sweat to be in vain.

He therefore appeal to Asantehene Nana Osei Tutu ll and lands and natural resources minister to as a matter of urgency intervene before the worse thing happens at prabon and Yaw Mosi community.
