The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Hon. Samuel Pyne has called for the need to ensure proper measures are put in place for the sustainability of the agricultural sector through these climate change season.
According to him, the agric sector can be well improved if climate change is tackled for the preservance of our food stuff.
Hon. Samuel Pyne continues that our negligence of certain things contributes a lot to climate change, which we all need to factor in decision-making. Stressing that it will be of the country’s interest if our agriculture is done in well-meaning ways to suit the weather conditions.
The Mayor of KMA emphasised how irrigation and other aspects could help regain our farmlands back to it normal status to boost productivity despite this climate change.
Hon. Samuel Pyne made this call during the 40th celebration of farmers’ day with the theme “Building Climate- Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Food Security.”
The Metro Best Farmer for 2024, Mr. Michael Oppong Mensah urged the youth to involve themselves in agric as it pays a lot, rather than focusing solely on galamsey for quick money, which at the end will have a negative impact on their lives and that of the country.
Mr. Oppong Mensah called on the government to reduce taxes on agric inputs as that is having a negative influence on their wowork.
