Three persons have sustained gunshot wounds while seven others have been arrested during a scheduled meeting between the management of Asanko Gold Mines and residents of Manso Adubiaso in the Amansie South district.
Hon Yaw Manu,the unit committee chairman for Manso Abiram electoral area said that, the management of Asanko Gold Mines have instructed their security guards includes police officers on duty not to allow residents especially farmers to crossover security check point lead to the mining site to their farms which they think it against human rights.
He said, the residents upon received the instructions which is mean to prevent them from enter into their farms and other business activities,the management of Asanko Gold Mines scheduled a meeting between the community but during the meeting some police officers on duty fired several gunshot on the residents which affected three persons.
He said, the police officers on duty proceeded to arrested seven people who are in police custody without bill. Some of the residents and farmers from five adjoining communities,Abiram,Kwabenaso,Subinso,
Keniago and Adubiaso shared their difficulties going through with numerous harassment from security guards of the mining company on their own lands and call on the DCE, MP and IGP to intervene else will not vote on December 7, elections.
One of victims who are suffering from gunshot,Vicent Arthur and his mother shared their situation and call on authorities to intervene.
