A/R Dr. Bawumia Supports Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Renovation With GHc 200,000 Donation

Vice President Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia has donated GHc 200,000 to the Heal Komfo Anokye Project, a renovation initiative for the over 70-year-old Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

The donation, made on his behalf by Presidential Advisor on Health Dr. Nsiah Asare aims to support the hospital’s renovation, spearheaded by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Dr. Nsiah Asare commended the Asantehene for leading the initiative and expressed satisfaction with the renovation’s progress.

He emphasized the importance of public support, stating that the government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility.

Dr. Asare pledged Dr. Bawumia’s continuous support and plans to collaborate with management to expedite the renovation upon becoming president in 2025.

The Heal Komfo Anokye Project seeks to raise $10 million for the hospital’s comprehensive renovation.

The project aims to improve infrastructural improvements in Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Ghana’s second-largest teaching hospital.

Additionally, Dr. Asare highlighted other hospital projects across the country aimed at easing pressure on Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, a referral facility for twelve regions.

These projects include new hospital constructions due for commissioning soon.

These efforts, he noted, demonstrate the government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and services in Ghana.

Providing an update on the renovation’s progress, Project Coordinator Sammy Adu Boakye briefed the media on the latest developments. He shared details on the completed and ongoing renovation works, showcasing the project’s tangible advancements.
