W/R I Would Feel Ashamed To Seek Votes Amid Current Hardship If I Were The Vice President – Mahama
Former President John Mahama has criticized the current administration’s handling of Ghana’s economic challenges, emphasizing the severe hardships faced by citizens.
Speaking at Daboase in the Wassa East District of the Western Region during his three-day tour, Mahama expressed disapproval of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s approach to governance.
He accused Dr. Bawumia of claiming credit for the government’s successes while shifting responsibility for its failures to President Nana Akufo-Addo.
Mahama stated that under such dire circumstances, if he were Vice President, he would feel too embarrassed to stand before Ghanaians and ask for their votes.
He stressed that true leadership demands accountability for both achievements and shortcomings, especially during an economic crisis.
Addressing the crowd, Mahama remarked that every time Ghanaians complain about the current hardships, the Vice President attributes the issues to the President while claiming credit for any perceived successes. “This means even he knows things are not good,” Mahama observed.
In a further critique, Mahama warned Ghanaians about the dangers of re-electing the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He argued that, based on their current actions, the NPP might one day “sell the country” if given another term, referencing what he described as their growing interest in amassing personal proproperties.
