Kosmos Innovation Centre Organises 2024 AgriTech Challenge Classic Final Pitch At KNUST

The Kosmos Innovation Centre (KIC) has organised the 2024 Agritech Challenge Classic Final Pitch at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) campus for students of partner universities, who were able to make it from the start of the challenge across the sixteen regions in Ghana.

This final stage seeks to climax all the activities that happened at the zonal level between October and the early part of November 2024.

The Executive Director of Kosmos Innovation Centre, Mr Benjamin Gyan-Kesse, addressing the ceremony, said the introduction of the KIC AgriTech Challenge program in 2016 was to impact the agriculture vision value chain to get young people and the country at large to see agriculture from a different perspective.

.

He continues that Kosmos Energy has been their backbone since the introduction of this program. Stating that, since the collaboration between KIC and Mastercard Foundation in 2021/2022, they have been able to train 7,000 young people in the AgriTech Challenge space over the years.

.

Mr. Benjamin Gyan-Kesse stressed KIC’s efforts to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in Ghana’s agricultural sector through this annual Agritech Challenge program that provides these young people with entrepreneur leadership training, mentorship, and a network of support, as well as potential access to seed funding.

The Executive Director of Kosmos Innovation Centre urged participants who could not reach the finals of the Agritech Challenge to build themselves with the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the journey. Encouraging them to boost their confidence as there have been many of them who are well-established despite not making it to the finals of the challenge.

“The fact that one did not make it to the AgriTech Challenge Classic or the AgriTech Challenge Pro does not mean the world has come to an end.” He added.
