NHIA Vehicle Burnt To Ashes At Moree

National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Cape Coast, to verify whether the vehicle purportedly set ablaze by the enraged youth in Moree on election day indeed belongs to the authority.

Regional Director for NHIA, Mr. Fred Appiah confirmed the vehicle and state that an extensive police investigation has been launched following a disturbing incident on December 7, coinciding with the day of the general election.

This incident involved a group of youths who, in a fit of anger, set fire to a vehicle owned by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).

The events unfolded in Moree, a small coastal town known for its bustling fishing activities, situated within the Abura Asebu Kwamekese District in the Central Region.

If we recalled,on December 7, around 11:45 pm at the Moree Police Station,

Enraged youths set an NHIA vehicle ablaze. The vehicle, which was transporting some election materials, was attacked amid suspicions that it had been brought to the community to rig the election.

Mr. Appiah stated that an official complaint from the Abura Asebu Kwamekese District Health Insurance has been made to the regional police command in Cape Coast, and they hope the CID department will bring the suspects to justice.

The vehicle belongs to the National Health Insurance Authority at Abura Asebu Kwamekese District, which the Election Commission requested to send election materials to its polling stations across the district.

If someone is claiming our vehicle was used to rig the election at Abura Asebu Kwamekese in favor of any political party, that is not true, as it is already public knowledge.

This is the current picture or video of the said vehicle that was set ablaze at the Moree township close to the Police Station. When the news team visited the community today, they found that the vehicle had burned to ashes.

Moreover,Regional Director appeals to the youth to completely distance themselves from such a malevolent mindset. This incident has never occurred in the region, and as a government institution, we condemn the act.
