Stop Tagging Cholera With spiritualism Bambohene Of Ahanta Traditional Council Advise Ghanaians

The Bambohene of the Ahanta Traditional Council, Nana Egya Ndama Kwame, has strongly advised Ghanaians to prioritize medical care when experiencing symptoms of cholera, urging them to abandon the tendency of associating the disease with spiritual causes.

He emphasized the importance of seeking professional healthcare instead of resorting to herbalists or spiritual consultations.

This appeal was made during an awareness campaign addressing the recent cholera outbreak in the Western Region, which has claimed over 18 lives and continues to pose a serious public health threat.

Nana Egya Ndama Kwame described cholera as a deadly but preventable disease, stressing that timely treatment at hospitals can save lives.

“Cholera is caused by bacteria, and its symptoms include severe diarrhea and dehydration.

.

It is not a spiritual issue, so people must stop wasting time and head straight to the hospital,” Nana Egya Ndama Kwame stated.

Meanwhile, victims of the disease have recounted their experiences, narrating the challenges they faced and how the illness took a toll on their health.

.

Many described the sudden onset of symptoms, including excessive vomiting, diarrhea, and extreme weakness.

Some victims expressed relief at receiving timely medical attention, while others admitted they initially delayed seeking help due to misconceptions about the disease’s cause.
