Rumors Are Swirling That New Patriotic Party (NPP) Is On The Hunt For A New Candidate To Represent The Assin North Constituency
This development comes on the heels of Charles Opoku’s back-to-back losses to James Gyakye Quayson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in two high-stakes elections. Charles Opoku had previously won the NPP’s parliamentary primary for the Assin North by-election with 376 votes out of 512.
However, his subsequent losses have apparently prompted the NPP to explore alternative representation for the constituency.
Although the NPP hasn’t officially confirmed the rumors, it’s clear that the party is reevaluating its strategy for Assin North.
Some key party figures are throwing their weight behind one Alswel Annan, while others are backing Frederick Freeman, who lost to Charles Opoku in the primaries.
However, some party members have raised concerns about Freeman’s absence from party activities after his primary loss, which has led them to support Alswel instead, citing his behind-the-scenes contributions to the party.
