FDA Western Regional Director Advises Ghanaians To Prioritize Food And Drink Safety During Christmas Festivities
The Western Regional Director of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Dr. Martin Kusi, has advised Ghanaians to be mindful of what they consume during the Christmas season.
He emphasized the importance of eating healthy and wholesome food to ensure a safe and enjoyable festive period.
Speaking during the FDA’s Carols Night celebration held at the Nkotompo Methodist Church, Dr. Kusi highlighted the risks associated with negligence in food and drink safety, especially during festive gatherings.
He particularly urged the youth to avoid leaving their drinks and food unattended, as this could expose them to potential poisoning.
“As we celebrate this joyous season, let us remember that our health is paramount.
Be cautious about the food and drinks you consume and always ensure they are safe. Leaving your drink or food open and unattended, especially in the company of friends, could lead to serious consequences,” he cautioned.
Dr. Kusi also encouraged the public to patronize only certified and well-prepared food products from trusted sources to reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses. He urged households to maintain high standards of hygiene in food preparation and storage during the celebrations.
The Carols Night event brought together FDA staff, community members, and other stakeholders to celebrate the season and promote public awareness of food safety.
Dr. Kusi used the platform to commend the FDA staff for their dedication and reminded them of the Authority’s critical role in protecting public health.
As families and friends come together to celebrate Christmas, the FDA’s message serves as a timely reminder of the need for vigilance and responsible behavior when it comes to food and drink safety.
