Anti-Cocoa Task Force in collaboration with Ntetepa community watch dog Committee has impounded two trucks loaded with 400 bags of cocoa smuggling to Togo.
National Anti-cocoa smuggling task force in collaboration with Nketepa watch dog committee has arrested two trucks loaded with 400 bags of cocoa alleged to be on the way to Togo.
Four people have been arrested to help the police do an investigation.
Speaking to Afia Agyeimaa Budu, the Assembly member for Nketepa electoral area, Bosu Yaw said their area has been a place for smugglers where goods are always exported to Togo and because of that they have formed watch dog Committee which helps to arrest them and therefore appealed for motor bikes to help improve the committee’s work.
Meanwhile, the commander of Nketepa watch dog Committee Anthony Ablor said they got the information about the cocoa smuggling about a week ago, and they managed to arrest the two trucks around 1am.
Though the drivers together with their mates took to their heels, the police arrested them and called for support because armed rubbers and smugglers always used that area.
Meanwhile, cocoboard has promised to reward anyone who will help give information to arrest cocoa smugglers.
