NDC Deputy Youth Organizer Calls For Investigation Into Election Deaths In Ahafo Ano South West

The Deputy Youth Organizer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ahafo Ano South West Constituency in the Ashanti region,

Hon. Iddrisu Amidu, has called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, to immediately investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of one person and the injury of eight others during the 2024 general elections in the constituency.

Speaking at the NDC party office in Mankranso, the district capital, Hon. Amidu emphasized that these violent incidents have left a lasting impact on Ghana’s democratic process.

He urged the Ghana Police Service to act swiftly to ensure transparency and justice for the affected individuals and their families.

Hon. Amidu proposed the formation of a dedicated task force within the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to handle these cases exclusively.

According to him, this approach would ensure thorough investigations into the role of the Ahafo Ano South West District Police Commander and other security officials involved in the election security arrangements.

Additionally, he called on the government to review electoral security measures to identify any lapses that may have contributed to the unfortunate incidents.

This, he believes, is necessary to prevent a recurrence in future elections.

The NDC Deputy Youth Organizer stressed that the government’s response to this issue will be crucial in restoring public confidence in Ghana’s electoral system.

He urged the President and the IGP to take decisive action, assuring that a transparent investigation would help strengthen democracy and encourage party youth to actively work towards the 2028 elections.
