Tensions are brewing in Ashaiman as residents express their dissatisfaction with comments made by Minority Leader Hon. Afenyo Markin on the floor of Parliament last Friday, January 24, 2025.
The controversy revolves around allegations that Ashaiman MP *Hon. Ernest Henry Norgbey* threatened to “beat the minority caucus” in Parliament.
The people of Ashaiman are deeply unhappy about this accusation.
*Hon. Ernest Norgbey* has served this constituency with integrity, and we strongly believe he deserves the opportunity to clear his name.
We are calling on the Speaker of Parliament to allow Hon. Norgbey to address this matter publicly in Parliament.
“Our MP is a man of peace. We don’t believe he would make such a statement. He must be given the chance to explain.”
Ashaiman deserves respect, and this issue must not tarnish our reputation or that of our MP.
In the press conference today, the constituency organizer for Ashaiman Mr Mark Apeto speak to the media said.”
He therefore continues said that, the second deputy speaker should allow the MP hon Ernest Norgbey to respond immediately to allegation by Afenyo Markin – minority leader.
The press conference concluded with a strong call to action directed at the Speaker of Parliament, urging a fair opportunity for Hon. Ernest Henry Norgbey to address the allegations on record.
