Chairman Owusu Bimpeh Threatens Legal Action If EC Fails To Declare Him Winner

Chairman Yaw Owusu Bimpeh ,one of the Ashanti Regional Council Of State aspirants has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to declare him the winner of the Ashanti Regional Council of State election, insisting that there is no need for a re-election.
According to the former Ashanti regional Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), his team was well-prepared and confident of victory from the outset.
He is threatening to take legal action if the EC fails to declare him the winner, saying “I want the EC to declare me a winner, if they fail, myself and my lawyers will go to court” .
Chairman Bimpeh’s demands come despite the EC’s announcement that the Council of State elections in the Ashanti Region will be re-ran on February 17, 2025, due to disruptions during the initial voting process
The EC has reassured the public that it has communicated with the Ghana Police Service and the National Election Security Taskforce to ensure enhanced security measures at the polling venues.
However, Chairman Bimpeh remains adamant that the incident does not warrant a re-election, citing his expectation that the EC would call him to be sworn in as the Ashanti regional representative.
Unfortunately, due to his health condition resulting from injury, he sustained on his neck during the election disruption where he was hit with a chair, and he was unable to report to the EC.
Chairman Bimpeh is now calling on the EC to uphold his victory, emphasizing that “there’s no need for re-election.”
Chairman Bimpeh made the pronouncements at a press conference at his residence this afternoon.
