Fish Farmers At Kadjanya Laments On Continuous Theft Of Fishes In Cages Along the Volta Lake

Fish Farmers at *Kadjanya No Smoking* in the Shai Osudoku district of the Greater Accra Region are lamenting on a continous theft of fishes from their farms by unknown people along the Volta lake for years.

Speaking to Angel News reporter *Jaman Dehyee Opambour*, *John Narh Lasidzi* assembly Member for *Kadjanya Dormeliam Electoral Area* stated that, some fishermen from communities along the Volta lake at night steals from the cages of the fish farmers by cutting the cage net which all the fishes will go out and they will trap them.

According to him, this criminal activities of some fishermen stealing from the cages of the farmers at night has left many farmers in the area unhappy which has prevented a lot of them not to venture into fish farming as they may loose their farms.

He hinted that, the suspected fishermen are from the neighboring communities along the Volta lake in the North Tongu district of the Volta Region.

He stressed that, this thefts activities has caused a lot of unemployment among the youths and people in the community as farmers have stop farming which he believes is a threat to the country.

He therefore caution those perpetrators to desist from such act as they don’t want to take the law into their hands.

Enoch Tetteh* one of the farmers who has been affected by the criminal activities of this fishermen spoke to Angel News and call on the MP *Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa* chiefs and assembly members in the North Tongu district to advise their fishermen to desist from such act else they will advise themselves.
