Western Regional Minister Declares Region As Prime Investment Destination

Western Regional Minister Hon. Joseph Nelson has declared the region as the ideal investment destination in Ghana, citing its strategic geographical location, abundant natural resources, and skilled human capital.

He, therefore, called on both domestic and international investors to explore the numerous investment opportunities available in the region.

According to him, private sector participation is crucial in complementing government efforts to drive economic growth and development.

“We have to look out for others who are also concerned about investment and development so we can work together,” the Minister stated.

Hon. Joseph Nelson made this declaration during an engagement with the Member of Parliament (MP) for Essikado-Ketan Constituency, Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah, on Monday, February 24, 2025.

Explaining the significance of private investment in advancing the region’s development agenda, the Minister emphasized that reliance on central government funding alone is insufficient.

“You know that the state of the economy is such that you cannot rely solely on central government for everything,” he noted.

For him, investment-led development remains a top priority, as he is fully aware of the region’s challenges.

“The commitment to developing this region is top on the agenda because the challenges are not lost on me,” he stressed.

Hon. Joseph Nelson, a three-term regional secretary, expressed his deep understanding of the region’s development needs, pledging to address them proactively.

On the deteriorating state of the Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC), which has suffered structural damage and poor maintenance, the Minister vowed to ensure its renovation.

“To think that this is the current state of the Regional Administration, being put in this sorry state, is rather unfortunate and very sad,” he lamented.

For her part, the MP for Essikado-Ketan, Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah, reaffirmed her commitment to working closely with the Minister to drive development in the constituency.

As the host constituency for the WRCC, she expressed her determination to attract investors and tackle underdevelopment and rising unemployment in the area.

She also pledged to collaborate with the Minister to bridge the infrastructure gap in her constituency.
