Government Urged To Crack Down On Unlicensed Mining Companies

The Executive Director of the Centre for Social Impact Studies (CeSIS), Mr. Robert Tanti Ali, has called on the government to take decisive action against mining companies operating without licenses.

Speaking in an interview with Douglas Oyiboh Amponsah, a regional correspondent for Angel TV, Mr. Ali emphasized the need for stricter regulations in the mining industry.

He argued that companies operating without licenses are not only breaking the law but also causing harm to local communities and the environment.

“The law is clear,” Mr. Ali said. “Only the government can provide licenses to mining companies. If a company is operating without a license, it is an illegal connection and must be held accountable.”

Mr. Ali’s comments come as CeSIS engages with opinion leaders in the Mfantseman municipality to address mining issues.

The municipality has been plagued by illegal mining activities, which have resulted in environmental degradation and social problems.

The Executive Director of CeSIS emphasized that the government must take a firm stance against unlicensed mining companies.

“The government must ban any mining company operating without an accredited license from mining communities,” he said.

Mr. Ali also stressed the importance of educating local communities about the consequences of illegal mining.

“We need to raise awareness about the harm caused by illegal mining,” he said. “We must also educate people about their rights and the importance of responsible mining practices.”

The call to action by CeSIS is a welcome development in the fight against illegal mining.

As the government considers Mr. Ali’s proposal, it is clear that decisive action is needed to protect local communities and the environment.

They also highly impressed with opinion leader and resident who came to the engagement of CeSIS and their going to do more for them to understand responsibility of mining Companies in the communities.

Some opinion leader and resident also shared their happiness on this engagement for enable them to understand their responsibility of mining Companies in their communities areas.

Some also advise Youth to take this activities and action seriously mining Companies must be acceptable to citizens opinion in the various communities.
