The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, has highlighted the crucial role of port operations in expanding job creation and driving economic growth in Ghana.
According to him, a well-positioned port enhances the activities of all institutions along the port business value chain, creating employment opportunities and boosting revenue generation.
He made these remarks during a courtesy call by the Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, at the Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC).
Minister Nelson stressed that port operations are integral to economic management, trade facilitation, and intermodal transport connectivity. He also emphasized their significance in revenue generation and the global economy.
Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, on his part, expressed his commitment to working closely with regional authorities to enhance the efficiency of the Takoradi Port. Accompanied by Takoradi Port Director Peter Amoh Bediako, he called for a collective effort to improve port operations.
Efficient port management, experts say, minimizes delays and costs in the supply chain while ensuring environmental sustainability through measures to reduce pollution and carbon emissions.
