Water Crsis Hit Ahwiam Community,  Residents Cry For PortableDrinking Water

Residents of the Ahwiam, a community in the Ningo-Prampram District of the Greater Accra region, are appealing to the government to help provide portable drinking water.

The community has been without portable drinking for years; explain that they heavily rely on contaminated water from holes they have dug for domestic use, as the only stream water they rely on has dried up due to the dry spell.

In a ceremony to make way for the dredging of the community dam, which has dried up for months, Nene Tetteh Merh III bemoaned the devastating effect of the water crisis on the community and called for immediate help from the authorities.

Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for the area, Raphael Ahianti, has described the recent water crisis in the area as a mother problem, explaining the growth in population of the community has led to an increase in water demand.

He explained the water crisis, if not attended to, may lead to other health implications in the area.
