Minister For Energy And Green Transition, Hon John Abdulai Jinapor Has Assured That The Ashanti Region Will Now Enjoy A Stable Power Supply

Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon John Abdulai Jinapor has assured that the Ashanti Region will now enjoy a stable power supply.
The region has faced erratic power supply issues, particularly in the regional capital, Kumasi, not only yesterday but for much of the past year.
During a visit to the Manhyia Palace, where he was accompanied by the Chief Executives of GRIDCO, ECG, and VRA, Jinapor explained that the disruptions experienced yesterday were due to ongoing work on a newly installed transformer.
He noted that the issues have been resolved and guaranteed that the region will now have a steady power supply.
Jinapor mentioned that GRIDCO has installed a new 145 MVA transformer to replace an older one, effectively doubling its capacity to ensure reliable electricity delivery in the region.
He urged the residents of Kumasi to remain patient as the government works to maintain a stable power supply.
The Minister emphasized that the government is not shedding the load, as there is sufficient power generation available.
The country has even been supplying excess power to neighbouring countries, including Burkina Faso, Togo, and Côte d’Ivoire.
However, he acknowledged that challenges remain in terms of transmission capacity.
In response, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, called on the Chief Executive Officers of VRA, GRIDCO, and ECG to support the Energy Minister in his efforts to ensure success.
