Chief Of Nkawie-Kuma Together With Task Force Arrested 2-Chinese, Excavators Seized Over Galamsey

The chief of Nkawie-Kuma, Oheneba Kwame Akoto, together with task force have arrested 2-Chinese internationals who are actively involved in a galamsey activities in the area.
On March 14, 2025. the chief of Nkawie-Kuma, Oheneba Kwame Akoto together with task force embarked a fight against illegal mining (galamsey) at Adobewura, and Afepaye in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipal of the Ashanti Region.
According to a source, the illegal mining activities have been ongoing for a long time in the Adobewura forest reserve.
The task force also seized two escalators at the site belonging to the Chinese internationals.
Speaking to Angel TV’s Ashanti Regional correspondent, Bismark Mensah, the chief of Nkawie-Kuma, Oheneba Kwame Akoto confirmed that their move was initiated by the fight against galamsey as declared by the government.
Nana also bemoaned the rate at which the Adobewura forest reserve has been devastated by these illegal miners.
He pledged to embark on a continuous combat against the illegal mining activities.
Some worried residents of Adobewura who spoke to media expressed their excitement over the move by the chief.
