Police Arrest Man For Murdering Neighbour, Inflicts Cutlass Wounds On Father And 3 Others At Kwame Alert

The Twifo Praso District Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, identified as Kwaku Opare, for gruesomely murdering a woman neighbor and inflicting deep cutlass wounds on his father and three others in the kwame Alert, a community, located within the Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira District of the Central Region.

The incident occurred following a trivial argument between Opare and his father over sticks.

According to reports from the community, Opare became enraged after accusing his father of lending his sticks to a local Pentecost Church, which used the materials to keep its cement from hardening.

Opare, upset by the decision to lend the sticks without his consent, confronted his father, leading to an altercation.

In the heat of the argument, Opare reportedly attacked his father with a cutlass, inflicting serious wounds.

The suspect’s neighbour, Akua Fatima, who was distressed by Opare’s violent behavior, attempted to intervene in the dispute.

She confronted Opare, urging him to stop the attack on his father.

Unfortunately, during the confrontation, Opare turned the weapon on his mother, delivering fatal cutlass wounds.

In the course of the attack, the woman succumbed to her injuries.

As the violent altercation continued, three other community members who attempted to intervene and restrain Opare were also attacked.

They were severely injured in the process, sustaining deep cutlass wounds to their bodies.

These victims, along with Opare’s father, were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment, where they are currently receiving treatment.

The community, horrified by the violent outburst, managed to arrest Opare and, with the help of local authorities, handed him over to the police.

The Central North Regional Crime Officer, ASP Alex Yirenkyi, confirmed the report to Angel News Shadrack Owusu Asante and said police have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the matter and are urging the community to remain calm, assuring them that justice will be served in due course.
