Residents of Tweapease, a farming community in the Eastern Region’s Kwaebibrem Municipality, are urgently calling on mobile operators and the government to provide reliable telephone network connectivity.
The community relies heavily on agriculture, but the lack of mobile network connectivity severely hinders communication with the outside world.
Van Brown in an interview with Berima Asirifi Katwobo II of Akyem Tweapease, said, the network outage affects access to emergency services, healthcare, and education.
Residents must travel long distances to access these basic services, resulting in wasted time, resources, and opportunities.
Meanwhile, the Assembly member for the area, Ayim Darkwah noted that the lack of network connectivity has severely impacted economic activities in the area.
Without access to vital information on market prices, farmers struggle to produce and sell their crops efficiently, highlighting the urgent need for mobile network connectivity in Tweapease.
Residents lamented that their community is cut off from the rest of the world, unable to make simple phone calls to order farming inputs or negotiate prices with buyers.
To make a call, they must resort to climbing trees. Despite repeated appeals to mobile operators and the government, their pleas for network connectivity remain unanswered.
