Sampa Curfew, I Am Working Around The Clock To Get It Lifted – Bono Regional Minister

The Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Akwaboah Esq., has disclosed his concerted efforts to have the curfew imposed on the residents of Sampa in the Jaman North District rescinded, aiming to invigorate business activities and ensure their complete freedom.

On April 18th, 2024, the government imposed a curfew on Sampa due to chieftaincy disputes that erupted within the township.

This curfew, however, has been subject to reviews, offering some measure of relief to the inhabitants of Sampa.

According to the Regional Minister, despite these reviews, the residents of Sampa are eager for its complete removal.

Since assuming his role, he has liaised with the National Security Ministry, resulting in a two-hour extension of the curfew hours.

He is actively collaborating with the Ministry of National Security and other relevant agencies to have the curfew entirely lifted, contingent upon the absence of chieftaincy clashes and the establishment of lasting peace within the community.

He made these assertions on Tuesday in Sampa during the confirmation of the Jaman North District Chief Executive Nominee, Hon. George Adane.

The newly confirmed District Chief Executive for Jaman North District, Honourable Adane George, addressed the Assembly following his confirmation, urging all stakeholders and pertinent development agencies to collaborate with him in advancing the development of the Jaman North District to fulfill his vision and missions.

He vowed to address issues related to infrastructure, education, health services, and the safety and security of the district.

He reaffirmed his commitment to promoting economic growth and development to mitigate the economic challenges faced by the District.

A concerned member of the NDC and a businessman, Mr. Ramus Mensah, has urged the government to honor its commitment to establish a cashew processing factory in the Jaman North District.

He stated that the construction of the factory would significantly boost cashew production and foster business activities within the district.
