The Sunyani West Municipal Health Director, Rev. Esther Akua Kunadu Prempeh has urged chiefs and the residents of Boffourkrom to own and support a model health centre located in the community, providing basic needs, including equipment.
The Municipal Director made the call at the launch of a ‘Network of Practice’ (NOP) aimed at achieving universal health coverage in the sub-district by 2030.
The NOP, launched on Friday, 11th April 2025, sought to strengthen collaboration between health facilities and workers in the Boffourkrom enclave to improve health outcomes.
She emphasized that Community-based Health Planning Service (CHPS) compounds and other health facilities in the Boffourkrom sub-district will work together to meet health demands effectively.
As part of the launching activities, the Municipal Health Director led a fundraising ceremony to solicit voluntary financial aid to support the operations of Boffourkrom Model Health Centre.
In a related development, the In-charge of Boffourkrom Model Health Centre, Mr. Ambrose Maalinyuur appealed for renovation of the facility due to poor infrastructure and accommodation.
The in-charge, speaking exclusively with Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Sunyani-based Ark fm, said that despite its upgraded status, the building has become dilapidated and unfit for purpose.
Mr. Maalinyuur highlighted issues with the electricity connection, faded paint, leaking ceilings, and poor accommodation, emphasizing that these conditions affect healthcare delivery.
The In-charge also called for the swift commissioning of a nurses’ bungalow constructed by the government and urged the Ministry of Health to post more health workers to address staffing shortages.
Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for Adentia Electoral Area, Mr. Takyi Michael lamented the poor road network in the area, which affects healthcare access.
He urged the Member of Parliament for Sunyani West to prioritize road infrastructure development to link communities and improve healthcare delivery.
