Five Killed In Shooting At Asiyaw Samd Winning Site During Peace Talk

At least five people are dead following a shooting incident at a sand winning site in Asiyaw during a meeting intended to halt illegal sand mining activities.

Farmers and residents of the Asiyaw community have been protesting the destructive impact of illegal sand winning on their farmlands, which has severely affected crops like pawpaw, cassava, and maize.

The boundary chief of the Adonteng division of the Akuapem Traditional area, along with his subjects, visited the site to intervene after hearing the concerns of the affected farmers.

However, upon their arrival, a group of armed men allegedly acting on the orders of one Togbe and Alanyo opened fire on the visitors.

The attack resulted in a chaotic scene and the deaths of at least five individuals.
