NDC Youth Protest Against DCE Nominee For Okere District

Some youth of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Okere Constituency in the Eastern Region have kicked against the District Chief Executive (DCE) Nominee for Okere District *Eric William Ayettey* who was on Tuesday 29th April 2025 nominated by the President of Ghana H.E John Dramani Mahama.
Addressing the Media at Adukrom, *Oscar James* NDC Branch Youth Organizer at Asenema stated that, the DCE Nominee who is the current Chairman for the constituency never joined the Parliamentary Candidate (Prince Owiredu ) to participate in the activities of the 2024 elections in the constituency except when National or Regional Executives came to the area.
They also alleged that the Nominee brought a lot of divisions among party members which prevented the party from winning the seat for many decades in his tenure as party chairman so why will such a person be nominated to lead the district.
According to the youth, none of the NDC Party Members in the constituency jubilated after hearing the nomination from the President but rather supporters of the opposition party NPP were jubilating in the Constituency which raised a question mark on his appointment.
Therefore they are appealing to NDC authorities to take a second look at the appointment of the Current Chairman as DCE and Consider the 2024 Parliamentary Candidate *Prince Owiredu* as the DCE for Okere District.
Some of the NDC Party Members in Okere also spoke to the media on why they are protesting against the DCE Nominee *Eric William Ayettey.
