Residents of Assin Andoe in the Assin South District of the Central Region were met with shock upon discovering the decomposed body of a man in an abandoned room.
The deceased, identified as Kobby, a Kusasi man in his early 30s, had reportedly been residing in the community for farming purposes.
Former Assemblymember for the area, Hon. Foster Oteng Appau told Angel News’ Kwame Owusu Asante Shadrack that neighbors were alerted by a strong stench emanating from the room.
Upon investigating and noticing flies around the premises, they forced the door open and found Kobby’s lifeless body. It is suspected that he may have passed away as early as last Sunday.
Due to the advanced state of decomposition, the Assin South District Police Command, along with environmental health officials, are currently in discussions with traditional leaders at the Assin Andoe Palace to determine appropriate measures for handling the body. Efforts are also underway to trace Kobby’s family or close relatives.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his death.
Meanwhile, Hon. Oteng Appau urged landlords to thoroughly document tenants’ personal details, including their background and place of origin, to ensure traceability in the event of emergencies or unfortunate incidents requiring contact with their families.
