Former Brong Ahafo NPP Communication Director Blames Leadership For Party Woes In The Region

Leadership crisis remains a major contributing factor causing the misfortunes of the New Patriotic Party in the Bono Region, according to the former Bono Regional NPP communication director, Asare Bediako Seth.

Asare Bediako Seth, known as ABS, says the Bono Regional chairman, Mr. Kwame Bafoe has sidelined majority of regional executives with a divide and rule approach in his tenure.

He said this leadership style by the chairman created uncertainty going into the 2024 general elections.

ABS believes the New Patriotic Party in the region has no positive story to tell its followers and floating voters, citing the abysmal outcome of the Presidential and Parliamentary election results to back his claims.

Asare Bediako Seth made these revelations on “Issues on Ark FM,” a political discussion show hosted by Mr. Kwasi Kyei Baffour, KKB in Sunyani.

According to him, the most unfortunate incident was when the Bono NPP, which boasted of six parliamentary seats going into the 2024 elections, only won one under the leadership of the current regional chairman.

He reveals that the regional chairman shielded the regional director of elections and research from his responsibilities and opted for someone from the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) to take full control of the 2024 elections.

According to the former communication director, currently, serious apathy unfolds among party supporters and grassroot members due to poor treatment and neglect.

Additionally, Asare Bediako Seth noted that the regional chairman’s poor media relationship has created a wide gap between the party and media, portraying the NPP as anti-media in the Bono Region.

He lamented the Bono Regional party’s disgraced image due to the chairman’s public altrances, citing the recent banter with the former Assin Central MP, hon. Kennedy Agyapong.

Henceforth, ABS is advocating for electoral reforms to allow card-bearing members to participate in internal elections to elect competent leaders, citing concerns about alleged inducements in the current voting structure.
