Obuasi Court Remanded A 34 Year Old Woman For Allegedly Stealing A 5 Year Old Girl

A 34-year-old woman, Helena Oduro (also known as Yaa Ohenewaa), has been remanded into Police Custody in Nine Days for allegedly stealing a 5-year-old girl named Mary Essah Thelma.
According to Police Prosecutor, DSP Seidu Braimah, the child went missing on March 2, 2025, after her mother left home to sell items. An investigation was launched, and the child’s information was circulated on Social Media after New Edubiase Police declare her missing.
On May 8, 2025, the Tuobodom Police informed the New Edubiase District Police Command that the missing child had been found in Helena Oduro’s custody. The child had allegedly been subjected to maltreatment and had her hair shaved.
Today in Obuasi Circuit Court Presiding by his law-ship Mark Deboro charged Helena Oduro with child stealing and re-appear Court on May 21, 2025 for further investigation.

Kofi Essah, expressed relief that his child was found alive. He noted that the suspect had made changes to the child’s appearance, including shaving her hair.
