Traders at Santasi Market have issued a stern warning to the contractor constructing their new market, threatening to take drastic measures if their demands are not met.

The traders said they were relocated to the Town’s Community Center for the construction of the new market, which they claim that the contractor has failed to meet the promised completion timeline of one and a half years.

Nearly three years on, the traders allege that the contractor has started selling spaces in the new uncompleted market stores to individuals who are not part of them at a price of ¢3.5 billion.

This development has sparked outrage among the traders, who feel betrayed by the contractor’s actions.

They have warned that if the contractor doesn’t stop work on the project, they will be forced to take matters into their own hands.

According to the traders, they will build temporary wooden structures on the site and even go naked to curse the contractor.

Speaking to the press, queen mother of the market, Nana Ama Afrah, called on authorities to swiftly intervene to save any unwanted future occurrence.

Meanwhile some of the traders also sent shockwaves through the community, with many calling for urgent action to resolve the impasse.

In a passionate plea, the traders have called on the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Mayor, King Zuba, and other authorities to intervene in the matter.

As the situation continues to unfold, one thing is certain – the traders will not back down without a fight.
