A group of concerned youth within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Assin North District of the Central Region has publicly criticized their Member of Parliament, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson, and Constituency Chairman, Mr. Felix Benefo, over alleged favoritism in recent appointments.
The youth alleged that the MP and chairman have reserved key positions for their preferred individuals, sidelining other qualified party members.
They claim this approach has created divisions within the party at the constituency level, undermining unity and morale.
Their discontent intensified following the removal of Christian Ankomahe Amoah, the newly appointed Youth Employment Director and Deputy Youth Organizer of the constituency. According to the group, the MP and the Constituency Chairman have ordered the Regional YEA Boss to revoke the appointment of Christian Ankomahene Amoah to pave the way for a one Mr. Francis Ativi, a close associate of the MP, without transparent justification.
Addressing the media, Rankling Otoo, a member of the NDC communications team, stated that the concerned youth will resist any attempts by the MP and constituency chairman to impose decisions that do not reflect the collective will of the party’s grassroots.
They also expressed dissatisfaction with the selection process for the District Chief Executive (DCE) position, alleging that the MP and chairman used their influence to secure the role for their preferred candidate, disregarding other qualified nominees presented by the regional vetting committee.
The group is calling on the national leadership of the NDC to investigate these claims and ensure that appointments within the party in the Assin North Constituency are conducted fairly and transparently to maintain unity and trust among members.
