Thieves Strip Ola Girls JHS In Cape Coast Naked; Loot Roofing Sheets And Electrical Cables

The Management of Ola Girls Junior High School in Cape Coast has confirmed that unknown thieves have stripped the school’s (3)three-classroom block of roofing sheets, desks, and electrical cables, leaving classrooms, offices, and storerooms exposed to weather damage during rains.

The Parents Teachers Association Chairman, for the School Mr. Zakari Yamba Gatoni, blamed the theft on the absence of a watchman, a position the government has refused to fill, making the school vulnerable to such vandalism and theft, disrupting learning and causing concern among staff and parents.

Ms. Amanda Edwina Nyamebekyere Akore, Headmistress expressed worry over ongoing construction projects, including a new ground floor to prevent flooding, which have stalled due to financial constraints.

She called on notable alumni, including former Speaker of Parliament Joyce Bamford-Addo and Miss Yvonne Nduom, to support the school’s development efforts.

Mr. Francis Kowfie, Officer In-charge of Schools Improvement Supports (GES) under Cape Coast Metro, warned that some schools in Cape Coast might face flooding if abandoned projects are not urgently addressed.

He urged the Metro Assembly and the Member of Parliament for Cape Coast to find emergency solutions to prevent further flood.

This incident highlights the urgent need for improved security and infrastructure support at Ola Girls JHS to safeguard students’ learning environment and ongoing development projects.

End.
