Three (3) fire engines are battling an industrial fire involving parts of the production section of Flour Mills Ghana Limited Flour in Tema.
We can confirm that there was indeed a fire at Flour Mill Ghana Company Ltd, Gafco yard in Tema.
Fire call was received at 0846hrs and the first appliance arrived at 0846hrs. On arrival, an appliance from GPHA Fire and Safety Department was already at the scene doing firefighting.
A turn table Ladder (used for aerial firefighting) and two other appliances from Tema Newtown and Industrial Area Fire Stations were also deployed to augment firefighting.
Fire involved the production floor on a 10 floor storey building.
Though Fire had involved the 4th floor to the 10th floor, *it was not items on all the floors that were affected*.
Some floors had their wires, some raw material or machinery being affected by the Fire.
At 1008hrs fire was controlled and was finally extinguished at 1238hrs.
An appliance was left on standby to check for possible reignitions. Currently all appliances have left to their various base.
Electric panels, armoured cables and some of the production machinery were affected by the Fire.
The worker who was rushed to the GPHA TEMA Clinic, due to smoke inhalation, has been stabilised and discharged.
The Chief Fire Officer, Daniella Mawusie Sarpong Ntow and the Deputy Director Operations were at the scene to provide operation support and commended the firefighting teams for their swift response.
