Seven Trafficked Victims Rescued, Suspect Arrested In Assin Fosu

The Central North Regional Police Command has rescued seven foreign nationals who were allegedly trafficked into Ghana under false pretenses by a suspect identified as Zongo Jeon-Baptiste, a Burkinabe national.

Briefing the media, the Central North Regional Commander, DCOP Abraham Acquaye, revealed that the victims, two females, and five males hail from neighboring West African countries including Mali, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, and Burkina Faso.

They were found in a house at Pump Side, a suburb of Assin Fosu in the Central Region.

The victims were reportedly lured with promises of employment but ended up confined in suspicious circumstances.

According to police reports, the operation followed a tip-off received at around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2025. An informant alerted the police to strange movements and secretive behavior in the house, which had stirred fear among local residents.

Acting swiftly, the police raided the location and arrested eight individuals, including the main suspect, Zongo Jeon-Baptiste.

Interrogations revealed that he had lured the victims into the country under the guise of securing them jobs with QNET, an international online marketing firm known for products such as Bio Discs and energy pendants.

Zongo Jeon-Baptiste is currently in the police custody.

The victims have been released and are expected to report to the police on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. to support further investigations.

The police have reiterated their resolve to intensify efforts in combating human trafficking and safeguarding communities.
