Empowering Youth On Rights And Menstrual Education At Tanyigbe Senior High School In The Volta Region.

The Young and Safe project, implemented in partnership with Node Eight, Love Aid Foundation, GES – Ho Municipal Directorate, Ho Municipal Assembly, Ecorys UK, Fondation Botnar, and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, under the Healthy Cities for Adolescents program, recently hosted the first day of its boot camps at Tanyigbe Senior High School.
*Miss Kendell* broke down menstruation in a simple, relatable way, explaining it as the monthly shedding of the uterine lining due to hormonal changes.
She noted that it usually lasts between 3 to 7 days.
The session included a practical demo on how to properly wear sanitary pads, with boys actively participating and showing a willingness to learn.

*Kendell Elizabeth Mantey* discussed puberty, highlighting significant changes in boys and girls between ages 8 and 18.
She emphasized the importance of self-care, healthy habits, and communication with trusted adults.
*Lovia Tetteh* from Love Aid Foundation led a discussion on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights & Responsibilities, emphasizing that rights protect freedom, dignity, and well-being.
She highlighted key laws protecting youth rights and safety, including the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), the Domestic Violence Act, 2007 (Act 732), and the Children’s Act, 1998 (Act 560).
The boot camp aimed to empower youth with vital knowledge and skills, promoting healthy habits and self-care.
