The Pre-tertiary Association of Ghana (PRETAG), formerly called “Coalition of Concerned Teachers Union” (CCTU) prominent teacher union, has issued a firm call to President John Mahama to implement a policy providing teacher bungalows for teachers in rural villages who currently lack accommodation to teach.

PRETAG,emphasized that many rural teachers cannot afford the high cost of rent due to the rising cost of living, making it difficult for them to stay and teach effectively in village schools.

Some of the Central Regional Executives of (PRETAG), who spoke to Darlingfm 90.9 Cape Coast reporter Nyansapow Timothy,

“we will like to draw the President attention that, during his 2024 election campaign,he promised if we voted for him and his party ndc into power that no new school would be built without teacher accommodation, other existing schools will be also provided bungalows and that rural teachers would receive a 20% salary incentive to encourage retention.

Therefore, incase this government can’t afford teachers rent allowances then in our views the President should immediate re-place teachers bungalows policy in an immediate because teachers living in villages are suffering.
