Assin Anyinabrim Woman Turns Heads By Carrying Rats As Pets

In Assin Anyinabrim, a woman named Asafo Maame Florence has captured public attention for carrying 5 live rats as pets. While most people consider rats as pests, she treats them as beloved companions.
Asafo Maame Florence who works at Assin Nsuta Senior High shared her deep love for animals and stressed the need to protect all forms of life.
She revealed that she feeds her rats with diluted milk, keeps them clean, and even takes them to the veterinary clinic when they fall sick.
“I just love animals,” she said. “They also deserve care and attention. These rats are like family to me.”
She indicated that she picked the rats when they were little and took them in to protect them from being killed by children in the community.
“I saw the kids trying to harm them, so I decided to raise them myself,” she explained.
Her actions have sparked mixed reactions—while some were shocked, others admired her dedication to animal welfare and her unique bond with the creatures.
