Fmr. President Akufo-Addo Pay His Last Respect To Asante Mampong Hene

Yesterday, 9th June, 2025, I was in historic Asante Mampong, in the Ashanti Region, to pay my last respects to the departed soul of my friend and most recent occupant of the Silver Stool of Asanteman, Bretuo Piesie, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.
My relationship with the former university administrator, educationist and prominent
traditional ruler, was well established. We met as young men from the University of Ghana, where he was my senior and have since then collaborated in diverse engagements, familial and professional.
When he succeeded his uncle as Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, by a series of decisive measures, brought stability to a traditional state which had hitherto known considerable instability, and all in Mampong, including his eventual successor, must ensure that that stability is maintained.
He gave distinguished service to Asanteman and Ghana, especially as President of the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs.
I extend my deepest condolence to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Queenmother, Nana Yaa Agyakoma Difie II, the elders of his court and people of Asante Mampong and Asanteman, his widow Lady Janet and daughter, Naana Gyimah-Kessie, my daughter, Nana Dokua and the rest of the Bretuo royal family of Botase, on the death of this revered traditional ruler.
May his soul rest in perfect peace in the Bosom of the Almighty until the Last.
Day of the Resurrection, when we shall all meet again. Amen.
