The CEO of D Plaza Hotel, Mr. Daniel Eshun, has issued a strong appeal to mobile money vendors in the area to prioritize their personal security in the wake of increasing attacks and killings targeting mobile money agents across the country.
He made this call during the first anniversary celebration of the Mobile Money Advocacy Group Ghana – Golden City Tarkwa Zone 5, held over the weekend.
The event brought together mobile money operators, stakeholders in the digital financial sector, and members of the local business community.
“Our mobile money agents are not just service providers—they are breadwinners, entrepreneurs, and community members. It is heartbreaking to see them being targeted in such brutal attacks.
I urge every agent here to be alert, avoid risky transactions, and work from secure environments,” he said.
Mr. Edward Ofori Agyemang, National President of MOMAG (Mobile Money Advocacy Group Ghana), in his address, urged the vendors to be vigilant in their line of duty, guard against fraud, and secure their businesses.
He also emphasized that vendors should not overlook their personal safety, as their protection is ultimately in their own hands.
Some agents, in an interview, also spoke to us about the challenges and experiences within the mobile money business.
