IGP And Pomab Commend Police Hospital Staff For Service To The Public During Strike By GRNMA

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno and some members of the Police Management Board today, 13th June, 2025 paid a working visit to the Police Hospital, Accra to appreciate the hospital administration and staff for their effective management of the high numbers of patients who turned to the hospital to seek medical attention during the strike action by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association.

The Medical Director of the hospital, Commissioner of Police, Dr. Otu Nyarko who received the IGP and his team informed them that over the past one week, the hospital saw over 300% increase in the number of patients who visit the hospital to access medical care.

A similar situation was reported at the Police Hospital, Kumasi and other Police clinics across the country.

He added that even though this brought some pressure on the hospital, contingency measures were put in place to manage the situation.

In addition, all doctors on annual leave and study leave were called back to duty in order to ensure that no person in need of health care was turned away.

The IGP commended the Medical Director and his team for their sense of duty and thanked them for their invaluable service during such critical moments.

He urged all the officers and the civilian staff of the hospital to continue to work hard to save lives and ensure that every patient who calls at the hospital receives the needed medical attention.

He further noted that the recent commissioning of the Police Hospital at Kumasi could not have come at a better time.

He gave assurances of the Police Administration’s readiness to continue to provide the support necessary to improve service delivery at the hospital and all other Police medical facilities.
