Thanks to the timely intervention of fire officers, the Nkawkaw fire tender was saved from being burned by unknown individuals.
The incident occurred while the officers were trying to extinguish a fire that had engulfed a compound house at Nkawkaw Zaragoza.
In an interview with the Municipal Fire Commander, DOII SAMUEL MANTEY, he stated that they received a distress call around 7 PM on Wednesday, June 10th.
Due to the muddy condition of the access road to the scene, their fire tender got stuck.
They immediately requested reinforcement from the Mpraeso fire service, and their tender was disdispatched
While efforts were underway to put out the fire, some unidentified individuals went to where the Nkawkaw fire tender was stuck and set it ablaze.
Fortunately, the fire was detected early, minimizing the damage.
He mentioned that investigations are ongoing to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Regarding the fire at the compound house, he said they managed to save some of the rooms, but the rest were damaged to the point where the walls were collapsing.
