Rainstorm Leaves Over 200 Homeless , Residents Call For Urgent Government Aid

A severe rainstorm has left more than 200 residents homeless across four communities in the Twifo Atti Morkwa District of the Central Region.
The affected areas are Twifo Bimponso, Nsuakyire , Twifo 34, and Twifo Nuamakurom experienced significant flooding, which led to road blockages and the collapse of many homes within just a few hours.
The aftermath of the storm has forced many community members into desperate situations, with families seeking refuge in cocoa depots and church grounds.
The dire circumstances have prompted calls for government intervention, with residents urgently requesting supplies such as cement, roofing sheets, food, and mattresses.
Mr.James Prah, the NADMO director for the Twifo Atti Morkwa District, has reached out to local traditional authorities, urging them to discourage the sale of land near rivers to help mitigate the risk of future flooding.
He also advised residents to exercise caution during the current rainy season, predicting it could be more severe than last year’s, particularly in communities throughout the Central Region.
