Shooting At Outdooring Ceremony In Gbawe East Leaves One Dead, Another Injured

A tragic incident marred an outdooring ceremony at Gbawe Barley in the Gbawe East Electoral Area on Wednesday, 19th June 2025, as one person was shot dead and another critically injured.

According to a local opinion leader, Nii Oshipi, he received a distress call from the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Hospital informing him of the shooting.

He explained that one of the victims had been shot in the head and died on arrival, while the second victim, a woman, sustained gunshot wounds to the stomach.

The injured woman was later transferred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for advanced medical care.

The Assembly Member for the Gbawe East Electoral Hon Benjamin Lartey confirmed that the incident has been officially reported to the Gbawe Police Station.

He assured residents that steps are being taken to tighten security in the area.

He mentioned that he is working with the police to ensure peace is maintained and the perpetrators are apprehended.

As of now, the identities of both the victims and the suspect remain unknown, and the motive behind the attack is still unclear.
