Volta Regional Minister Tours Flood-Affected Areas In Sokode
The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has embarked on a visit to flood-affected areas in Sokode to assess the impact of recent heavy rains and engage directly with affected residents.
During his visit, Hon. Gunu saw the devastating effects of flooding on a poultry farm in Sokode Gbogame, where approximately 900 birds were lost.
This significant loss has had a major impact on the farmer’s livelihood.
The Minister also inspected the damaged Sokode-Akrofu road, where gullies have formed around a bridge.
This damage poses a serious hazard to road users and requires urgent attention.
Hon. Gunu expressed concern over the destruction caused by the floods and assured that the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) is working closely with relevant agencies to explore both immediate and long-term interventions.
The VRCC remains committed to coordinating responses that protect lives, livelihoods, and infrastructure in the Region.
