Residents Of Mpasaaso Manhyia Bemoan The Destruction Of Galamsey Activites On Their Farmer And Water

The residents of Mpasaaso – Manhyia in Ahafo Ano South West in Ashanti Region are lementing on the destructions of illegal mining causing on their cocoa farms and source of drinking water.

Kwabena Wireko an opinión leader of the community speaking to the media revealed that galamsey activities which is been spearheaded by some politicians , some chiefs and community elders have destroyed the the Asuokor stream which serves as source of drinking water for the community and other farming activities and number of acres of cocoa farms.

He called on Nananom and the government to urgently come to their aid.

On their part, some of the residents including some senior citizens enumerate the types of destruction illegal mining is causing in their community, which include insecurity, destructions on cocoa farms, no source of drinking water and many others.

They called the government to send security agencies to chase the illegal miners away.
