Three Pupils, Driver Died In Fatal Accident At Winneba Junction

Three pupils and a Taxi driver have died in a fatal accident which occurred after Winneba Junction on the Winneba -Cape Coast Highway in the Central Region.

The driver died on the spot whiles the three pupils died at Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital while receiving treatment

According to Winneba fire service, nine people including seven of the pupils were sent to the facility yesterday for treatment but three of the children died this morning.

Winneba Fire service says ,Toyota RAV4 with the Registration number GN 5505-18 collided with Hyundai Jet Taxi with the Registration number CR 748-20 immediately after Winneba Junction.

Reports indicate that, the Taxi was carrying 7 pupils from Winneba to Apam township while the Toyota RAV4 was also coming from Mankesim to Accra Direction.

Speaking to Angel News, Winneba Municipal Fire service Commander,DO2 Fredrick Adu Roku says the Toyota RAV4 made wrongful overtaken and collided with the Taxi onboard with seven pupils from St Paul’s School and Uncle Rich Preparatory school all in Winneba.

DO2 Fredrick Adu- Roku said, the Taxi driver died on the spot while nine others were also sent to Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for treatment but the three children who were in critical condition died this morning making the death toll to four.

DO2 Fredrick Adu-Roku said, 70 percent of accidents cases recorded in Ghana are man made and therefore called on driver’s to drive with care and obey road signs to save lives and properties.
